So much is happening and I am thrilled. I have been out and about with my new zoom lens putting it through it paces and I am hard at work on my Head Shot studio process…more to come on that soon.
There is so much beauty to see, capture and enjoy as I Iook around each day; from beautiful sunrises to sunsets, animals, plants and nature at its finest. I love all of the features on my new Nikon D750 and am enjoying to process of creating images that speak to you.
Enjoy a couple of new nature pictures! Life is too short to be unhappy!
I love dogs! Always have. Right now I’m the proud owner of an almost 5-year-old Irish Wolfhound, Piper. She and I are a registered therapy dog team. We get to visit others who want a therapy dog to come in and we get to share hugs and love and smiles.
That made this photo shoot all the more special! Zeb is a golden/lab cross puppy who is being raised by friends of mine, Steve, and Joanne. Zeb is a Canine Companion for Independence puppy in training. He is being raised to be a service dog. You can learn more about Canine Companions for Independence here at their website: http://www.cci.org/
We had a fun photo shoot in Laureate Park. He is handsome and smart and funny and was a joy to photograph.
What do you do each day that brings joy to others?
My adventures in photography are leading me to a new career. I have loved photography since middle school. I am almost never without a camera. Friends and family know I always capture the moments at gatherings. I’ve won several online photo contests and have had 2 pictures published in the Orlando Sentinel newspaper. I’ve photographed 4 weddings and lots of nature, macro, and other candid shots.
I’ve recently traded in my Sony Alpha 65 for a Nikon D750. This is the first time I’m learning to use all the manual settings exclusively so I can up my game and outcomes. For the first time, I’m also working with Lightroom (Lr) and Photoshop (Ps) for some tweaking. In the past, I never did this as the photo I got either looked like what I imagined when I took the photo or it didn’t. However, I’m learning to appreciate the added benefits of Lr and Ps for some cropping, straightening and different cool lighting and shadowing effects. Fun times ahead for sure.
So I’m kicking off Cari Rubin Photography. I’ve got the website, the Facebook page, the phone number, PO box, etc…. to start this new journey. I’m loving doing something that I love every day and something that I’m passionate about.
I can’t wait to take pictures for you and your friends, families, and pets. I’m looking forward to trips, journeys, and outings where I can rock the nature photography of landscapes and animals! I’m looking forward to trying my hand at night time photography, light trails, and star trails. I plan to do assignment photography as well for businesses that need specific, unique photographs for their advertising and social media sites.
Thanks for stopping by and come back again as I detail my photography adventures and steps and processes!

Spring Break 2017 – Family Time Outdoors! Wekiwa Springs State Park, Florida – Went Canoeing with my Brother, Sister-in-Law, and Nephew. Caught this raccoon frolicking on the water’s edge.
Spent time outdoors with a great neighbor and friend, her two children and my #IrishWolfhound, Piper. Walked and played in #LaureatePark and got to see a beautiful sunset over the lake. Nature offers moments of peace and inspiration each day. Do you take time to go outdoors and just be? Breathe, enjoy, spend time with loved ones!
There are so many walking and biking trails and parks to enjoy in the Laureate Park and Lake Nona areas. There are community events to attend and be part of. There are weekly yoga classes outdoors. It was enjoyable to watch the children play and run and smile.
What do you do each day that gives you inspiration? Life is too short to be unhappy!
I was at Rollins College, Winter Park, FL attending a conference. I brought my camera with me because I know it is a beautiful campus and setting. More pictures to come from campus. However, it was on the way home that I remembered there are wild peacocks in Winter Park. So a quick Google search and I had a street address.
Here is one picture of a proud male strutting his stuff and shaking his tail #feathers. There were 20-30 male and female peacocks just wandering in a residential neighborhood. Once he opened his feathers and started prancing, several other males did the same. Was really quite a magical thing to see.
Nikon #D750, 60mm, f/4, 1/500, ISO 500
I am enjoying the freedom to wander and take pictures. Love learning and using more features on my Nikon D750. Also, finally working with Lightroom and Photoshop. I have lots to learn and look forward to!
I went to the #OsceolaCountyFair and the #SilverspursRodeo as the first adventure out with my new camera. I really enjoyed walking around for hours and seeing the world from the lens of my camera and my photographers eye. I am love, love, loving the results I am getting from this camera. Right now I am using a Nikon 24-85mm zoom lens (f/2.8-4). It seems to give me enough wide angle and just enough zoom to start out with. My next purchase will likely be a 70-200mm or larger zoom lens, but for this photo outing the 24-85mm was great! Shooting in manual exclusively and in RAW are also new to me – but WOW! the fun and creativity doesn’t stop.
Here are a few of my favorite captures of the day:
